Reading
'Books allow us to see through the eyes of others. By transporting us to other worlds they help us to understand our own.'

Supporting Reading at Home and in School
At our school, we believe that reading is one of the most powerful ways to support a child’s learning, confidence, and imagination. Reading with your child – and reading to them – throughout their time in primary school has a lasting impact on their progress in every subject.
Sharing books helps children develop essential skills such as vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency. It also nurtures a love of stories and encourages curiosity about the world around them. Whether your child is just starting their reading journey or becoming a more independent reader, spending time enjoying books together makes a real difference.
To help you support your child at home, our website includes two dedicated areas full of guidance and recommendations:
- Phonics and Early Reading – Learn about how we teach reading in school and discover practical ways to support early phonics skills at home.
- Recommended Reads – Explore age-appropriate book suggestions to inspire your child and help them discover new favourites.
We encourage all families to explore these pages and continue sharing the joy of reading every day. Together, we can help every child grow into a confident, enthusiastic reader.
