School Lunches

At Breachwood Green JMI School, we are pleased to work with HCL to provide our nutritious and tasty school lunches. Children do not need to book meals in advance—they simply choose their preferred option each morning during registration. Every day, they can select from three choices: a meat-based dish, a vegetarian option, or a jacket potato or sandwich. The menu operates on a three-week rotation to ensure variety and balance, and it is updated twice a year to reflect seasonal ingredients and fresh ideas. Each time the menu changes, we email the new version to parents so you can stay informed and help your child make choices they'll enjoy.

Children in EYFS and Key Stage 1 (Class 1 and Class 2) receive Universal Free School Meals. For pupils in Key Stage 2 (Class 3 and Class 4), the cost of a school meal is currently £3.45 per day, payable in advance via the Arbor app. If your child prefers not to have a school meal, they are welcome to bring a healthy, nut-free packed lunch from home.

Dietary Requirements

If your child has an allergy or intolerance to any food types, you must contact HCL directly to complete the relevant in addition to informing the school.

Free School Meals

Some families may be entitled to Free School Meals based on their financial circumstances. If you receive certain benefits—such as Universal Credit, Income Support, or Child Tax Credit—you may be eligible to apply. Free School Meals not only ensure your child receives a healthy, balanced lunch each day, but also unlock additional funding for the school through Pupil Premium, which helps support learning and enrichment opportunities. Even if your child is in EYFS or Key Stage 1 and already receives Universal Free School Meals, we encourage eligible families to apply so the school can access this vital support.
